"Jane is an excellent listener and observer. Her comments and suggestions made it clear that she really understood what I was saying. Jane picked up on body language that didn't match what I told her, and her responses showed real insight. I heartily recommend Jane as a life coach." - - Patsy A.
Have you spent the first half of your life doing for everyone else and foregoing what you truly need and want out of life? Do you now want to focus on what you want and need to live a healthy, fulfilled life, but don't know where to start? If so, I can help.
For years, I got my self-worth from outside myself. I had very little boundaries and hardly ever said, ”No” because I wanted everyone to like me. I ran myself ragged doing everything for everyone, but at the end of the day it never seemed to be enough. I would feel resentful that I “had” to do so much, but never realized I was the one creating this pattern.
In my early 40’s, I discovered I didn’t really know myself because I was always gauging my actions based on what I thought other people wanted. I was a mother, wife, employee, volunteer, friend, daughter, and sister. But who was I? To find out, I embarked on a period of self -discovery.
I learned to pause before saying “yes” to every request. I got connected with my body through yoga and meditation and learned to be more mindful and present in my daily life. I learned what activities brought me fulfillment and joy and what activities I was just doing out of obligation or to please other people.
I learned I could be kind and say, “No.” I learned I could put more energy into activities and projects that fed my soul since I let go of so many that didn’t. I made room in my life for reading, hiking, exercising, writing, and meeting friends for coffee and, to my surprise, still had time to do my job well, care for my children, spend quality time with my husband, and volunteer. In today’s world, appearing busy is worshiped. But actually being busy does not necessarily make you productive.
I am now 53, enjoying my empty nest, have a full, joy-filled life and truly feel like I am just getting started. Sure, life is still hard, but now I find joy every day. And you can, too!
Do you want to get to know your true self, be more present and grateful, be less busy but remain as productive, and find out what truly brings you joy? Do you want to change the story your thoughts tell you about your life? Have you talked about making changes to your career, health, living situation for a long time but not taken any steps towards those changes?
